About the Grant Lake / Falls Creek Project
Kenai Hydro LLC is exploring the feasibility of developing a hydroelectric project on Grant Lake. Grant Lake is located at an elevation of approximately 700 ft MSL and flows into Grant Creek approximately one mile east of the Seward Highway near the town of Moose Pass in Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska. The nearest major town is Seward, which is located approximately 30 miles south of Moose Pass.
The Grant Lake watershed is about (including Grant Creek) 44 square miles, and the lake has an approximate surface area of 1,790 acres. Grant Creek, which discharges into Upper Trail Lake, has an average annual flow of 193 cubic feet per second (cfs).
The dam at Grant Lake, if constructed, would be built at the lake’s outlet for the purpose of controlling outflow from the lake, and possibly to create or maintain storage capacity. The proposed project would have an intake in Grant Lake, near the point at which it flows into Grant Creek. Water would be conveyed from the intake through a pipeline or penstock that would lead to a powerhouse. The powerhouse would be located near the bank of Grant Creek and would discharge into Grant Creek or Upper or Lower Trail Lake.

About the Crescent and Ptarmigan Lake Projects
Kenai Hydro LLC explored the feasibility of developing a hydroelectric project on Crescent Lake, located 4 miles south of the community of Moose Pass, Alaska. Two preliminary alternatives were investigated for the Crescent Lake hydroelectric project. In October, 2009 Kenai Hydro LLC surrendered the preliminary permit for the Crescent Lake Project, after concluding that the project was not feasible.
A preliminary permit for a project on Ptarmigan Lake was also surrendered in October, 2009.
